Having a happy healthy glow to your skin helps you to look your best. When we look good, we feel good. When we feel good, we are happy. We all want to feel good and look good.

If you want healthy glowing skin, you’ve got to start with a good foundation. I’m not talking about your makeup either. I’m talking about how you care for your skin. Take care of the basics first. The skin care tips I have compiled are great advice for your skin care regimen as well as your healthy lifestyle and wellness plan.

Skin Care Basics:

Eat Right

Be sure to get plenty of vitamins and minerals in your diet. Stay healthy by eating fresh fruit and vegetables; or a nice bean salad. Spinach, broccoli, tomatoes, carrots, fresh berries, and even sweet potatoes contain Antioxidants. Antioxidants help fight off Free Radicals. Free Radicals increase your risk of Premature Aging. The Sun is one of our largest sources of free radicals.

Stay Hydrated

Keep a cold drink on hand. Trust your body. If you feel thirsty, have a drink. Avoid: Salty snacks, Caffeine, and Alcohol. The can all increase your likelihood of dehydration.

Get Plenty of Rest

Most experts recommend 7-8 hours of sleep each night. Sleep debt can lead to premature aging of your skin. It also reduces the production of collagen and melatonin. Sleep deprivation can also lead to increased levels of cortisol, the stress hormone.

Exercise

Try to get 45 minutes of physical activity every day. Regular exercise raises your metabolism; reduces stress, and causes your body to release endorphins, which make you feel good.

Walking is a great way to get some exercise. It’s easy, and you already know how to do it. It’s what our bodies were built to do. It’s low impact, and it causes you to use most of your muscles. You can walk with your friends, or your family, or your dog. They will all enjoy it as well.
